Penny wanted to learn physics to better relate to Leonard, and she asked Sheldon to tutor her. During a tutoring session Penny began to cry in frustration. Sheldon asked why she was crying, to which Penny responded "Because I'm stupid.". Sheldon then explained to Penny that you cry because you are sad, not because you are stupid. He explained that being stupid is no reason to cry and then told Penny "I cry because others are stupid... and that makes me sad".
